Getting to Beefest

Beefest takes place on The Great Field – please use the postcode DT1 3RH.

Poundbury gives priority to people, rather than cars and commercial buildings are mixed with residential areas, shops and leisure facilities to create a walkable community. There is free road parking throughout Poundbury, but we encourage our visitors to use public transport or car share when possible.

By rail

Poundbury doesn’t have a train station, but there are two relatively nearby in Dorchester. The first is Dorchester South that is served by frequent train services on the London Waterloo –Weymouth main line.

While Dorchester West has services between Bristol Temple Meads and Weymouth. Both stations are a 20 minute relatively level walk to the festival.

By coach

There are regular long-distance services to Dorchester (contact your National Express travel agent).

By bus

The regular number 6 bus runs from Dorchester to Poundbury every half an hour with a bus stop by the festival at The Great Field. There is an additional service by the operator First, the X51 travel’s from Axminster to Dorchester via Poundbury, Lyme Regis, Charmouth and Chideock.

By car

We have free parking on the day in an allocated carpark. Driving from the east from Poole, stay with the A35 as it skirts around Dorchester. When you reach the roundabout with the A37, take the third exit to Poundbury on the B1305.

From the west and Bridport, follow the A35 until you reach the roundabout with the A37 and take the second exit to Poundbury on the B1305.

Coming from the north and Yeovil, follow the A37 south until you reach the roundabout with the A35. From here take the first exit to Poundbury on the B1305.

Arriving from the south and Weymouth, take the A354 to Dorchester and join the A35. When you reach the roundabout with the A37 it’s time to take the third exit to Poundbury.

Parking in Poundbury is plentiful and free, but please be aware that the area around The Great Field is going to be very busy on the day. Please follow the signs for the free car park and parking marshals will be on hand to direct you.
